The Hard Work is Done! Let the Fun Begin!
Twenty months ago I started writing my book about Corvette Special Editions and on Friday, September 7, 2018, I held the completed work in my hands for the first time. It’s a remarkable feeling of accomplishment and I am very excited for the next phase in this journey which will be to sell the book here on CorvetteSpecialEditions.com.
I was approached by CarTech Publishing back over Thanksgiving weekend in November 2016 to write the book on Corvette Special Editions. The publisher was looking for authors as they wanted to do a Special Editions book for the Corvette, along with one for the Camaro and one on the Mustang. I pretty much jumped at the chance. After all, I was already writing every day for CorvetteBlogger.com and while doing a book had always been in the back of my mind, the fact that I was approached for such a great topic made it an easy decision.
The parameters for the book would make this one of the largest projects I have ever undertaken. The book would be approximately 192 pages and would have 60K words, 20K captions, and 400 photos. I think the final count was over 72K words, 24K captions, and around 430 photos.
The actual writing of the book lasted about 10 months, from January through October 2017. I was then given several more opportunities to refine, edit and add more photos and I was officially done with the last round of edits in June 2018.
In putting the book together, I wanted to present the cars as a group, so instead of the book being laid out chronologically, I have organized the special editions by their category.
Six categories make up the book: Anniversary Editions, Pace Cars, Commemoratives and Tributes, Special Editions, Historic Corvettes, and Third Party Editions.
Corvettes have always been a passion of mine and while many know the history of the car, my goal was to find some story or nugget of information that may not be as well known. I hope you enjoy the book!
